FIDE Chess.com Grand Swiss
The FIDE Grand Swiss tournament will be taking place in Douglas, Isle of Man from October 25 to November 8, 2021. The same as in 2019, the tournament on the Isle of Man will become a FIDE candidates tournament qualifier. With a top winning prize of $70 000 and a $125 000 women’s grand Swiss prize. The tournament will host over 50 players.
European Team Chess Championship
This European event was last held in Batumi, Georgia in 2019, and saw Russia claim double gold at the tournament. The tournament is held for biennial European national chess teams and will be held this year in Terme Olimia, Slovenia from November 11 to November 22, 2021.
World Chess Championship Match
The World Chess Championship Match will be held in Dubai as part of Expo 2021. It has already been announced that the match will feature 14 games with a prize fund of at least $2 million. The match will start on October 1, 2021.
Airthings Masters
This online tournament will be providing a $200 000 prize fund. The winner of the tournament will be receiving $60 000 and a guaranteed place in the Grand Final. The tournament will be hosting 12 players from around the world.
Opera Euro Rapid
This online tournament will be held from February 6 to February 14 by Chess24. It will be the 3rd stage of the Meltwater Championship Chess Tour and the 2nd regular event. The tournament will start with 16 players. Half of the players will be eliminated by the middle half for the remaining players to battle out for the $30 000 winning prize.
