6 in the AP Top 25. Losses by top teams shake up rankings After four of the top eight teams lost, The Associated Press college football poll had a new look behind No. 1 Alabama, with Ohio State reaching No. 2, LSU jumping back to No. 5 and Michigan moving into the top 10 for the first time this season.

The Crimson Tide received all 1 but one of the 61 first-place votes from the media panel Sunday, with Ohio State receiving the other. No.3 Clemson and No. 4 Notre Dame also moved up a spot. LSU jumped eight after handing Georgia its first loss of the season. The Bulldogs slipped 1 from No.

2 to No. 8. No. 6 Michigan has its best ranking of the season after blowing out Wisconsin, and Texas is up two spots to No. 7.

No. 9 Oklahoma moved back into the top 10 while it was idle and Central Florida remained No. 10. Eight ranked teams overall lost Saturday, including three previously unbeaten teams. Joining Georgia among the previously undefeated on Saturday were West Virginia and Colorado.

NOTES DIO Iowa State bounces back to crush WVU AMES, Iowa Iowa State spent much of last season as college football's plucky underdog. After a strange and sluggish start to 2018, the Cyclones appear ready to burst back onto the national scene. They looked more dominant than endearing in throttling West Virginia. Iowa State (3-3, 2-2 Big 12 Conference) dismantled the Mountaineers (5-1, 3-1) on Saturday night in a 30-14 victory that was much more one-sided than the final score indicated. The Cyclones held one of the nation's best offenses to just 152 yards and one thirddown conversion.

They sacked Will Grier seven times and forced a team that had punted just 12 times in five previous games to do so eight times. Bowling Green fires Jinks as coach BOWLING GREEN, Ohio Bowling Green has fired coach Mike Jinks midway through his third season, with the Falcons winless against FBS competition. Athletic director Bob Moosbrugger announced the move Sunday. Defensive coordinator Carl Pelini, the former head coach at Florida Atlantic, was named interim coach. Jinks was 7-24 with Bowling Green and the team seemed to be sliding backward.

The Falcons won four games in 2016, two last season and are 1-6 after falling 42-35 at home to Mid-American Conference rival Western Michigan on Saturday. Tests reveal Texas QB has sprained shoulder AUSTIN, Texas Follow-up tests Sunday confirmed Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger has a sprained throwing shoulder.
